My husband is a Peanut Butter freak. He ate nothing but peanut butter sandwiches for lunch all though middle school. He loves peanut butter desserts and has been the cause of most of the PB and Chocolate desserts on the blog.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Ice Cream - The best hing since sliced bread! from #dietersdownfall.comI’m still playing with light and my photography. I wanted to open up with my light and dark backgrounds and experiment a bit more with them.

When I started this blog, the idea was to be sexy desserts that you would eat with your significant other and just have a pure love affair with the dessert.  I tried to capture this feeling by using dark colors that evoke a feeling of richness, sensuality, and pleasure.

With that in mind, take a look at the photo below.

Peanut Butter Ice Cream with mini chocolate chips and PB magic shell topping. from #dietersdownfall.comWhich photo makes you feel like you’re going to have an experience with the ice cream?

For me, it’s definitely the darker photo. It makes me feel like it’s night-time. It’s dark and secret and I’m gonna settle down with a good movie or book and enjoy this ice cream without my kid demanding another scoop.

What do you think? I’d love to hear how the photos make you feel.

Go on and indulge! This peanut butter chocolate chip ice cream is just what you're craving. from #dietersdownfall.comThis one is just supposed to make you feel happy.

Prep time:

Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip ice cream is perfect for your PB lover.
Ingredients
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ⅓ cup smooth peanut butter
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Whisk the eggs for 1 minute with an electric mixer. Add in the sugar and whisk until completely combined, smooth, and light and fluffy.
  2. Pour in the cream and milk and whisk to combine.
  3. Remove 1 cup of the mixture and stir peanut butter into it. Add the peanut butter mixture back to the cream base and transfer to your ice cream mixture.
  4. Follow the instructions for your maker. Add the chocolate chips in at the very end of the process.
  5. Transfer the ice cream to a plastic container with a lid and freeze overnight to harden.
To make the Cones
  1. Melt ¼ cup peanut butter with 1 teaspoon of coconut oil. Add to the top 1 inch of the ice cream cone and coat with chocolate sprinkles. Store in the fridge until ready to use.
  2. Reserve the left over peanut butter to use as a "magic shell" topping on the ice cream.

  1. Peanut Butter and ice cream are weaknesses of mine. I’m drooling just looking at this ice cream! Pinned.

  2. My husband is a peanut butter fiend as well and I know he will dive head first into this gorgeous ice cream! I’m definitely partial to darker backgrounds for photos but I also love your lighter one (and the happy one)!

  3. Mmmmmmm! I bought an ice cream maker for the hubby for Father’s Day and we are definitely going to have to try this out. Peanut Butter and I are BFFs!

  4. Ohmigerd… this is just screaming at me to make it, Karen. Yum!

  5. What a fantastic recipe! Cannot wait to try it. Popping by from the artsy fartsy bloghop! I prefer the picture with the lighter background – it just feels extra cold and delicious with the marble backdrop. Emma x

  6. Umm … This looks SO good!!! My mouth is watering because I’m pretty sure it includes all my favorite things!! I thank you for sharing at Cook it! Craft it! Share it! Last night (my waistline, however does NOT thank you … Ha!).

  7. Wow, this looks marvelous!!! Pinned it:)

  8. This is funny because you are totally right the darker picture makes me feel like the cone is made just for me! No kids involved….the lighter seems a lot less serious and more of a normal day. Either one the ice cream looks Amazing!

  9. Wow, I really have to think about buying an ice cream maker. Looks awesome!

I love mine. The downside is the space it takes up in the freezer when it’s not in use. But I really don’t like the consistency of no-churn ice cream.

  10. I am the peanut butter nut in the family. Thanks for the recipe.

  11. Yum, that looks so good. I co-host Sweet and Savoury Sunday and would love for you to stop by and share this and other recipes with us. Have a great day!

  12. YES PLEASE! I will have two scoops just like that! Peanut butter and chocolate is so, so good, and I’ve been wanting to try another flavor other than vanilla! Thanks for sharing this! Pinning!

    • Karyn Granrud Karyn Granrud says:

I think if we combine our two peanut butter and oreo ice creams we will rule the world!! lol!!

  13. One of my favorite flavors Karyn! Thanks for sharing with us at Best of the Weekend – featuring tomorrow night on my blog.

  14. To answer your question, my favorite is the last photo It makes me want to eat the top scoop before it falls off – lol.

I love this ice cream with reese’s peanut butter cups mixed in (I use about 9 regular cups or 21 minis), but I’ve also read about bloggers mixing in hot fudge sauce, white chocolate peanut butter cups (Nigella’s recipe), or Oreos (gotta try that!). I just use eggbeaters instead of raw eggs.

Ironically, my husband doesn’t like peanut butter desserts, and I LOVE them, though lately I’ve realized that’s not such a bad thing… I just make him a different flavor or dessert to enjoy, and then I get the whole batch to myself

As far as dieting, this kind of food motivates me to exercise and stay healthy so I can keep eating it and never have to go on a restrictive diet – oh yeah!!!

Thanks for the feedback on the photos. It’s all about setting the mood, isn’t it? MY husband and I love PB desserts – him more so. I guess there’s more for you when you do make it

  15. Exactly! (To both your points
